SYNOPSIS: Howard Harris wrote "Special Kid" to foster greater understanding about learning disabled teenagers.  Howard's story is about a boy named Kevin who has learning disabilities that cause other children to tease and mock him.  His teachers and peers do not understand that he is extremely intelligent but his brain has difficulties processing information which makes him seem mentally slow.  The discrimination endured by Kevin is as severe and debilitating as (racial) discrimination. The story ends well for Kevin as he is able to win over the administration to give him whatever help he needs to get an education.  The story does not end as well for many other learning disabled teenagers who often drop out of school.  A very high percentage of inmates in our prisons
have learning disabilities such as ADD.

SYNOPSIS: When a robot runs out of donuts, he must battle vampire cockroaches, activate his "donut-cam" and engage in the most harrowing derring-do to replenish his stock.  Though the film is only :60 sconds, it took the filmmakers over 75 hours to produce this short.

SYNOPSIS: The Saugus Union School District has embraced the "Character Counts" program from the Josephson Institute of Ethics. This program is funded by the City of Santa Clarita.  "Character Counts"
focuses on the Six Pillars of Character: Trustworthiness, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship, and these are what the six segments are based on.  The students explored and Created their own multi-media messages rather than purchasing video tapes or other materials.

CAST: 36 students were selected by their teachers, half of them based on their scholastic abilities, and the other half were selected from the "at-risk" population of the school.
