More About the Festival

The Burbank International Children's Film Festival (BICFF) is launching October 13-20, 2000. Held at Media City Center, in the heart of the entertainment capital of the world, the festival will offer independent filmmakers an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their talent and network with industry  leaders. For seven activity-packed days, the festival will showcase entertainment for both the big and the little screens with viewings scheduled in theaters and on-line.

Burbank, California serves as home to many industry giants and independent production companies working in the mediums of film, television and digital formats. The festival will afford participants the opportunity to attend first-rate panel discussions, meet film distributors, attend dynamic special events, and be entertained by some of the world's finest children's films. BICFF will surely offer something outstanding for everyone. Don't miss out!

According to a recent CNN-USA Today-Gallup poll, 76% of adults agree that TV, movies, and popular music are negative influences on children, and 75% report that they make efforts to protect children from such harmful influences. In addition, recent studies of the movie industry's basic business model by economics professor Arthut De Vany at UC- Irvine question the film industry's basic business model of combining a big budget, top stars and an R rating. In fact, the study concludes that G, PG, and PG-13 movies all generate better revenues and profits than R films, while keeping costs down.

The Burbank International Children's Film Festival provides independent filmmakers, animators, writers, and young artists an ideally located venue for the purpose of experiencing, supporting, and acknowledging excellence in children's film and media from around the world. The Festival offers a forum, a market, support, and a showplace for filmmakers while delighting children's audiences and inspiring their imaginations with leading-edge entertainment.
